The draft Local Plan was published by Epsom & Ewell Borough Council in February 2023. Since then the Labour govenment has moved the goal post significantly, with increased targets for new housing in most parts of the United Kingdom.

The Licensing and Planning Policy Committee of E&EBC presented the response to the local plan in September 2024. There was a huge amount of information to absorb in a very short time, 732 pages.

Major decisions were made at a meeting of the full E&EBC council in December 2024. The Local Plan was approved, then submitted to the Inspector after Regulation 19 Review. Decisions made during the Examination phase will be pivotal on the remaining green belt and green field sites. Once the green land is lost, it is gone for ever!
